Discover Twenty-Nine New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Featuring a Commander Deck!)

The world's favorite pizza-eating superheroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, unveiled a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel held at NYCC. Is this a radical new set or simply another crossover marketing move? We'll let you decide.

Take a look here at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key context. All items mentioned here launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27th.

MTG x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before we get into all the various unique products and collections available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.

Let's unpack a few surprising details. First, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu ability, where players can play big creatures onto the battlefield when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can apply to non-creature spells as well. The designers also used this chance to refine the ability a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability isn't going away, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions moving forward.

“If we ever go back to the Kamigawa plane, we might use the original ability because that's where it was developed and it is iconic of that world,” an experienced game designer stated. “However in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and the new ability will be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use Sneak.”

That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is one of four special cards with special art designed specifically for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.

Oh, and, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. Yet as per the developers, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.

Anyway, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers say they took care to ensure the new cards and mechanics worked smoothly with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it would be Standard-legal and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red strategy built around artifacts.

“They mesh together to provide the pieces for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” he says.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander based on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command zone rather than just one). Take a look for yourself:

The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on popularity. Sources indicated that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an additional thirty-seven Turtle-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 lands.)

What will the Turtles version of Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.

Standard Bundle (Regular)

As per usual, the company is selling a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and contains the following:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • Fifteen Traditional foil basic lands
  • 15 Regular land cards
  • Two helper cards
  • One Foil promotional card
  • 1 Oversized spindown life counter
  • 1 Card-storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and includes the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • 1 Collector Booster
  • 25 Non-foil pizza lands
  • 5 Foil pizza basic lands
  • Two Traditional foil pizza bundle promo cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • 1 Oversized spindown life counter
  • One storage box

If you’re wondering about the “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card featuring brand-new TMNT art. The team showed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter adding toppings onto a pizza. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.

This special bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:

  • Twelve Standard Boosters (the perfect amount four people to draft)
  • One Premium Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
  • Ninety Non-foil basic lands (for building your draft deck)
  • Ten Non-foil double-sided tokens
  • One drafting guide (a single-page instruction sheet to drafting the set)

Turtle Team-Up

Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to develop Magic game products aimed at new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend join forces against a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.

The general idea here that each Boss card gives unique powers to the creature cards contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card per turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
