Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
