Close to thirty million individuals in the United Kingdom who bought an Apple Inc. or Samsung smartphone from the year 2015 to 2024 may be able to around 17 pounds per claimant in the event that a consumer campaign group is successful in its case against the US corporation Qualcomm Inc..

Court Case Commences On Monday

The campaign is escalating the tech giant to the specialized court in London now.

The legal proceedings involving the consumer group and the chipmaker is projected to last five weeks.

The body is alleging the chip company of anti-competitive practices.

The allegation is that the corporation forced Apple and Samsung Electronics to pay high fees and licensing fees for necessary phone parts, which then pushed up the expense of those devices for buyers.

The Details the Case Will Examine

The case starting now will look into whether Qualcomm had market power and, if so, whether it misused a dominant position.

If the advocacy organization is successful, there will be a subsequent step aiming to obtain 480 million pounds from the tech firm, to be divided between an projected 29 million British consumers impacted.

The organization is seeking damages for all affected Apple Inc. & Samsung Electronics handsets acquired between the start of October 2015 and early January 2024.
